Contraindications of Infrared Sauna
While infrared saunas can offer many health benefits, they are not suitable for everyone. The following groups of people should avoid sauna or consult a healthcare provider before using an infrared sauna:
Individuals who do not tolerate fluctuations in heart rate easily
Those with autoimmune or other conditions worsened by heat
Individuals on medications blocking the ability to sweat, blood pressure, heart rate, or antihistamines
People with hemophilia or those prone to bleeding
Individuals with recent abdominal surgery, breast surgery, tummy tuck, etc.
People with implants, metal pins, rods, artificial joints are normally ok with infrared saunas, but should consult their doctor before scheduling your session
Those with a pacemaker/defibrillator (as magnets in the sauna can interrupt output)
For a more comprehensive list of contraindications, please visit this link.
As with any new lifestyle habit, always listen to your body and if you have any concerns speak with your doctor or qualified health professional.
The Infrared Sauna Experience
For first-time users, the Infrared Sauna Experience starts with short, lower temperature sessions. These gradually increase over time to match your tolerance level. Initially, you might not sweat during the sessions. This is normal as we're creating a new pathway for detoxification in your system and getting your body ready for an increase in core temperature safely.
During your session, you can relax and listen to audiobooks, music, or add a head and face massage.
After your session, cool towels will be provided to wipe down. You can also rinse hands and face off with cool water. It's recommended to drink an electrolyte-rich beverage after the session and can be helpful to eat a healthy, mineral-rich snack to replenish the salt lost through sweating.
